Varsity WR DB Coach & Special Teams Coordinator

Troy Gunderson, who graduated from Deer River High School and played football for hall of fame coach Steve Ott, enters his 11th season coaching the Thunderhawks. Gunderson coordinates the special teams, as well coaching the wide receivers and defensive backs.

A St. Cloud State University and Bemidji State University graduate, he teaches 10th-12th grade English at GRHS. An avid outdoorsman who loves to hunt deer, pheasant, grouse, and fishes as much as possible, he is also a MSHSL certified baseball and softball umpire.

Coach Gunderson and his wife Angie, who have been married for 21 years, have two daughters, Noelle (18) and Olivia (16), and live in Cohasset with their two Springer Spaniel dogs, Scout and Woody.
